Have You Heard Y.E.T? – Aug 2023

It’s the August edition of Have You Heard Y.E.T?!

Welcome to the August edition of ‘Have you Heard Y.E.T?!’

This month’s article features an update on what’s happening at Y.E.T, highlights from the Clefs d’Or expo and the year of Accessibility Tourism. The Mornington Peninsula is our feature destination of the month and this month’s team member spotlight is on Sarah Higgins.

What’s happening at Your Exclusive Tours?

July was an interesting month here at Your Exclusive Tours with the Les Clefs d’Or Concierge Expo, our family’s experience with accessibility tourism, and as always, showing our beautiful city and state to our guests.

The Les Clefs d’Or Concierge Expo was held at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park where all the concierges from Melbourne hotels and tourism operators come together for an afternoon of meetings and networking. With 30 plus meetings over a 5-hour period, it was a great way to both connect with existing and meet new hotel concierges, provide product information, and build relationships.

HYHY Newsletter Jan 2024 - YET opt

Over the past 12 months, Your Exclusive Tours has experienced more demand for accessible tourism from our guests in the forms of mobility aids, wheelie walkers, scooters, and wheelchairs. In mid July our 6 years old daughter had major hip surgery placing both legs in an A-Frame cast and was wheelchair bound for several weeks as part of the recovery process.

One Saturday morning we found ourselves out and about exploring the beautiful Yarra Valley ending up at Maroondah Dam. There are beautiful walks, picnics area, and restrooms which were accessiblility friendly. Our daughter Carlie was not to be stopped at Maroondah Dam as we explored the various tracks, walking over the dam wall, and finding great photo locations.

It has been a very humbling experience and reaffirms our approach to Accessibility Tourism to understand one’s capacity and ability and ensuring we can provide such a service.

Melbourne Fire Fighter Stair Climb

I am reaching out to ask for your help, support, and encouragement as I participate in the Melbourne Fire Fighter Stair Climb.

On Saturday 2nd September 2023, I will be stepping up to climb 28 Floors of Crown Metropol Hotel wearing 25kgs of turnout gear and breathing apparatus along with 700 Firefighters and other Emergency Service Personnel in the Melbourne Fire Fighter Stair Climb.

Over the past 10 years, I have participated in the Melbourne Fire Fighter Stair Climb raising funds and awareness for the event’s beneficiaries being Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000Foundation.

I would love for your support in this event, whether it is a donation or sponsoring me in this event, or just leaving a motivational message via clicking on the link below:

Destination of the Month – The Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula boasts some of Victoria’s finest beaches. With one side facing Port Phillip bay, providing beautiful soft sand and gentle waters, and the other providing some of Bass Strait’s best surfing, it’s little wonder that it is often referred to as ‘where Melbourne goes to the beach’.

But in the hands of Your Exclusive Tours, a day on the Mornington Peninsula boasts so much more. Whether as a family looking for a day’s adventure, a couple looking for a day of romance, or some friends / a bridal party looking for a day of pampering, the Peninsula’s well known (and not so well known) treasures include:

We love nothing more than creating an itinerary for our guests to explore and experience the best of The Peninsula with us. We can tailor a stunning day on the Peninsula in any kind of weather, with a typical full day duration being about 8-10 hours and shorter duration trips also available.

Should you wish to plan your own Peninsula adventure, please reach out to discuss your requirements with us, or find out more here.

Team Member Spotlight – Sarah Higgins

Each month we highlight a member of the YET team and let you get to know them a little better. This month our spotlight is on Sarah Higgins.

  1. What is your role at Your Exclusive Tours?
Marketing and Project Services. I help Your Exclusive Tours with all marketing functions and project administration.

  2. If you weren’t part of the Your Exclusive Tours team, what other job would you like to attempt?
I’ve always wanted to work in a book store, but I’m wise enough to know that all of my wages would come home as books!

  3. Tell us something aobut yourself that we don’t know

In what might best be described as ‘an Alanis Morrisette level of irony’, I recently started wearing hearing aids in both ears, however I also write the newsletter titled “Have You Heard Yet?!”

  4. What’s your favourite quote?
“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong”.
    Mandy Hale.
